    Griffon Breed Standards

    Known as the Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon in Canada, the Korthals Griffon in Germany, and the Griffon d'Arret a Poil Dur in France, the Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon has a distinct set of characteristics which set him apart from other breeds.

    Every breed of purebred animal has a "Standard of Perfection". The Standard is a description or "blueprint" of the breed's ideal structure, coat, type and other characteristics. Even though no one dog may exactly meet the Standard, it is a guideline for breeders to look to and for judges to base their opinions upon. The Standard for the Wire-haired Pointing Griffon is based upon his development and use as a close working versatile hunting dog.
