About The Dam:
Grout was born here at Griffonpoint. She was born in the final litter of Ch. Prancing Acrobat, who has been a very good producer and who was brought out of retirement to be bred with Acer for Grout's litter.Grout is a very eager bitch, and is one of those dogs who will go at a gallop all day in the field. Even tough cover does not cause her delay, though she is smaller in size.
In the water, she is relentless, she bursts into the water, retrieving with an urgency that is totally refreshing.
About The Sire:
Jasper is a Griffon who has tremendous will to please and intelligence. He is one of our easiest to train Griffons, and excelled in Competitive Obedience trials, earning an Award of Merit for Obedience. He achieved his Obedience Title with 3 High in Class scores, and missed getting High in Trial by only 1/2 point . For those who are familiar with Competitive Obedience Trials, Jasper's highest test score was a 198.5/200, which gives him the highest Obedience score of any Griffon in North America.Jasper has not been used at stud since 1998, but we expect to see the will to please, the tremendous natural retrieve and his comical sense of humour passed on along with his hunting passion and drive to work and find birds.
This should be a good litter, it is a fairly open line breeding, mainly coming back to our foundation bitch, Meg, for strength. We do have a glimpse of these two bloodlines together, though, A few years ago, when Jasper was bred to Twig (Grout's dam) that produced Sage, Cassie, Anndie, Jaeger and other famous Griffonpoint Griffons. In this particular litter with Jasper and Grout, Acer will also influence the genetics. This will be interesting, as these two Griffons are both extreme in their drive to work and their eagerness to please. Jasper was chosen to sire Grout's first litter because I want to keep that divine passion, which I believe goes back to Meg ... while improving on size, bone and forehand.
In any case, the pups should have the solid hunting traits that we have seen passed down through the Reimer line and through Jasper and Acer.
